Matt Youngs is President of Loughborough Students’ Union, the partner SU of Loughborough University and Loughborough College. He leads a team of 11 elected officers, representing more than 30,000 students across three campuses. Matt previously served as the Executive Officer for Welfare, Diversity and EDI at the Students’ Union. He has an undergraduate and postgraduate degree in Geography from Loughborough University. As President, Matt has sought to strengthen the ties between Loughborough Students’ Union and Loughborough University. This, together with investment in a stakeholder development strategy, has enabled Loughborough Students’ Union to play a pivotal role in supporting students and the local community in Loughborough during the COVID-19 pandemic. Loughborough Students’ Union has a strong reputation within the Higher Education sector for providing an outstanding student experience. The success of its sports clubs and societies has gained national recognition through a number of awards, not least the British University and Colleges Sport (BUCS) Championship, which it has won every year for the past 40 years.
