EUNIS December workshops: registration ends today!

If you haven´t registered for this year´s EUNIS meeting on Higher Education IT benchmarking and the workshop on EU regulation on Data Protection and IT Security, do it now. The registration ends today!

Both events are held in Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, Lisbon, Portugal.

The Data Protection and IT security workshop, organised by the InfoSec Task Force on 12th December 2017, aims to address the GDPR further implementation from a HE practical point of view and focus strongly on solutions that will help us in becoming compliant. EUNIS BencHEIT annual meeting will be held on 13th December 2017. The day is a great opportunity for networking, discussion and sharing experiences between institutions that have been part of IT benchmarking projects. In addition to the European initiatives, EDUCAUSE will be presenting their work, and new for this year is that UCISA will be joining the workshop as well. You will also hear about comparing HPC costs between the nordic countries, an initiative from the ministry in Denmark. More information and the programme is available here.

The venue is the same, so you have the opportunity to attend both workshops. We will organise a dinner for all the participants on Tuesday evening.

The registration is now open for the two EUNIS workshops that will be held in Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, Lisbon, Portugal.

After the success of the EUNIS event on Data Protection and IT security (in April this year) a follow-up GDPR workshop is planned for 12th December 2017 by the InfoSec Task Force. It will continue the theme of GDPR in higher education and practical measures for implementation. More information, registration and the preliminary programme is available here.

EUNIS InfoSec Task Force launch

EUNIS InfoSec Task Force launch

A new Task Force on Information Security and Data Protection (InfoSec) was launched by the EUNIS Board in June 2017. New members are welcome to participate in the InfoSec TF. Please, contact the TF leader Anne Hintzell (anne.hintzell@helsinki.fi) and you will be added to the TF mailing list.

The Task Force aims to present a forum for information security professionals as well as data protection experts in order to build a strong network.

The objectives of the InfoSec Task Force are to:

  • discuss the higher education information security and privacy challenges and present and share ways of solving those challenges
  • share knowledge on topical information security threats, countermeasures as well as technical solutions
  • support GDPR implementation on the information security side
  • follow up on the threat landscape as well as the development of new privacy legislation
  • build a network of higher education information security and Data Protection professionals

As a start of the InfoSec TF a workshop on Data Protection and IT security was organized in Berlin, in April 2017. The next workshop will be arranged on 12th of December 2017 in Lisbon. This workshop will continue the theme of GDPR in higher education and practical measures for implementation.
