ACA European Policy Seminar: Feb 3, Brussels

What’s new in Brussels? Recent developments in European Policies and Programmes.

45th ACA European Policy Seminar will be held on 3rd of February 2015 in Brussels.

This time round, the focus will be on the new EU programmes in education and research, and especially on Erasmus+. The seminar will try to identify and analyse the experience made with the start of this programme. What worked, what did not and what needs to be improved are some of the guiding questions behind the programme. They will be answered by a multiplicity of actors, such as the European Commission, national agencies and, most important, university representatives.

Webinar: “Content analysis and critical thinking – an assessment study”, Jan 21, 11.00 CET

The TALOE Partnership announces a series of webinars entitled “Talks on E-assessment and Learning Outcomes” organised by one of the partners, University Computing Centre SRCE.

The first lecture of this series is to be held on 21st January 2015 starting at 11.00 CET with the title of “Content analysis and critical thinking – An assessment study” by Antonella Poce, researcher and lecturer in experimental pedagogy at the University Roma Tre, Italy. She is going to speak about the project of the University Roma Tre that constructed a model to increase critical thinking skills and ways how to evaluate them.

The monthly series is suggested for educators, educational developers, staff in learning support and those with responsibility for the management and quality assurance of assessment with the aims of:

  • putting in focus the learning outcomes and assessment methods in e-learning;
  • helping teachers and trainers decide on the e-assessment tools and processes;
  • enhancing the quality of the education process and improving student’s learning experience;
  • encouraging the academic community to network, exchange experience and to cooperate.

Launch of ERAI – EUNIS Research and Analysis Initiative

We are happy to announce the launch of ERAI – the EUNIS Research and Analysis Initiative.

The main goal of ERAI is to provide a platform where to find the information a University management needs to understand the uses and trends of IT for the European Higher Education system? Through ERAI, EUNIS will: provide case studies from specific countries, compare studies between two or several countries, share contributions coming from Members, write EUNIS’ articles, publish and promote surveys and analysis of the Task Forces, etc.

  • ERAI will support university IT leaders to develop their business
  • ERAI will support the European Union in understanding differences and similarities of the Higher Education IT issues in the different European countries.
  • ERAI will offer Corporate Members the opportunity to establish a fruitful collaboration with the Universities.
  • Most importantly, ERAI will give EUNIS the possibility to collect and manage content coming from Europe, making it the official “megaphone” of the all members.

DG Education and Culture and the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA), have the pleasure of inviting you to the launch event “Students in the digital age – current state of play – assessing students’ computer and information literacy skills across 21 countries”.

This event will be held on 20 November from 10:00-11:30 at the Conference Centre “Albert Borschette”, Rue Froissart 36, 1040 Brussels.

New EUNIS Project – ERAI

ERAI – the EUNIS Research and Analysis Initiative – wants to be the answer to a very simple question: where can I find information about the use and trends of IT for the European Higher Education system?

The main goal of ERAI will be to provide a platform where to find this very information and share it. Through ERAI, EUNIS will:

  • provide case studies from specific countries
  • compare studies between two or several countries
  • share contributions coming from Members
  • write EUNIS specific articles
  • publish and promote surveys and analysis of the working group

An internal working group has been created in order to analyse the best possible structure this project can have. Johan Bergström of Umeå University, Sweden, has been asked to lead and coordinate the working group.
