EUNIS at IMS Europe Summit

EUNIS was well represented by Annette Grande Furset from UNIT, Norway, the EUNIS representative on the IMS Europe board, at the IMS Europe Summit in Barcelona on 10-11 October.
Around 150 industry professionals met with representatives from higher education to discuss the role of standards in advancing next-generation education technologies.

Gill Ferrell from the EUNIS Learning and Teaching Group opened day two with a keynote entitled ‘Next Generation Edtech in Europe: Ode to Joy or Requiem in D Minor?’. Gill’s talk celebrated the many successes of European collaboration but pointed out that we face some difficult judgments about ethics, equality, and digital well-being.

Gill also ran a joint session with Gyöngyi Horváthof from GÉANT where they compared and contrasted the perspectives of EUNIS supporting mainly higher education institutions and GÉANT representing the National research and education networks (NRENs)
The event further cemented the collaborations between EUNIS, IMS Global and GÉANT and we look forward to more joint working!

EUNIS Enterprise Architecture SIG: news & activity

EUNIS Enterprise Architecture Special Interest Group continues with organizing informative events and the next scheduled meeting will be held online on 16th of September 2019 at 11am UTC time. The invitation has been sent out to the EA mailing list (ea@eunis.org). If you have not joined yet that list please do so (email: esa.suominen@eunis.org).

We also plan to organize a f2f workshop in Thessaloniki the 21st of November. If we get enough attendance to our meeting we will be able to work on our chosen development items and heatmap template of the Canvas. Please be active to promote our common goals and participate in the development!

We also remind that the EUNIS Enterprise Architecture pre-Congress workshop outcome is documented at the EUNIS EA SIG’s Team Drive as well as the presentations.

Additionally we created a visualization of the manual post-it notes and mapped them to the UCISA model. We will call the outcome EUNIS HEI Capability Canvas (now in beta) to have a working name for our efforts. The map can be found here as a PowerBI web version that can be explored and sorted in many ways. Please note that the add-on from the workshop are only mapped and not validated. That work is still in due!
