ACA European Policy Seminar: 4th Dec, Brussels

English-medium instruction (EMI) has become a systemic feature in many European countries, particularly at the Master level. Even though the growth curve now shows signs of flattening, the number of English-taught programmes (ETPs) in Europe has seen a very steep rise in the last 15 years. This ACA European Policy Seminar will present, amongst other things, the key findings of ACA’s latest (2014) Europe-wide surveys of this form of tuition. There are some surprises in store.

But this is only one item on the seminar’s agenda: In an opening presentation, Adrian Veale of the European Commission will tackle the difficult question which language – or languages – Europe’s new global outreach strategy (“Europe in the world”) should use to attract the world’s young talents to our continent’s universities and colleges.

September 30th: EUNIS to speak on ERAI in Orlando

During the upcoming EDUCAUSE annual conference in Orlando, Florida; Johan Bergström and Michele Mennielli will speak about the ERAI project and exchange ideas with the session participants on how this project could evolve. If you are planning to be in Orlando for the conference, please make sure you stop by and take the opportunity to discuss this with us. EUNIS 2015 Congress website already running…

As announced at the presentation at the  EUNIS 2014 Gala Dinner the website for EUNIS 2015 has been launched! It is available from the main page and can be accessed through the Events tab. The website has some basic information at the moment and will be updated regularly over the next few months, as things change we will announce it on the various EUNIS social media channels.

EUNIS 2014 Congress and beyond…

EUNIS 2014 Congress,  dedicated for IT-professionals, teachers and researchers with an interest on how IT can be utilized for education, research and administration, was held on 11th-13th of June in Umeå, Sweden.

The theme for the Congress was “Higher education in the digital era”. The programme was divided into distinct tracks:

  • supporting teaching and learning;
  • university management – BI;
  • the CIO and IT management;
  • software development;
  • university cooperation;
  • security.

Among the internationally renowned speakers that have contributed at the event there were: Gerry Pennell (CIO Manchester University), Michiel Boreel (CTO Sogeti) and Eden Dahlstrom (Director of Research at Educause). As always, a large part of the programme was composed of contributions from the attendees themselves. In total over 100 speakers have presented their insights and experiences. There were over 250 participants attending the Congress and it was rated very high in the Congress survey:)

Thus, we are looking forward to see you at the 21st annual EUNIS 2015 Congress, which will be held on 10-12th of June 2015 by Abertay University (Dundee, Scotland).
