EUNIS E-LEARNING TASK FORCE

Aims

The ELTF will carry out a number of projects and activities to encourage the exchange of information and foster collaborative working across Europe. You will enjoy being an ELTF member if you enjoy meeting and working with colleagues from other European universities.
ELTF membership is open to the EUNIS community. You are welcome to join the ELTF provided the university or organisation where you work is a member of EUNIS.
You yourself must be happy to give a small amount of your time to working on ELTF projects and activities. And the ELTF would like some of its members to propose and lead new projects.
At present, there are five working groups:

  • Jens Doerup award – This group has drawn up regulations for the award and consists of a team of judges, together with others who will help run the scheme. The award was announced at EUNIS2007 and applications will be invited October 2007. Leader: Dorte Sidelmann (Denmark)
  • E-Learning Snapshots – The Snapshots group will continue to run the survey of e-learning support across Europe. The snapshots scheme has already produced survey reports published as papers at EUNIS2006 and EUNIS2007and a new survey will be announced in October 2007. Group members will analyse and report on the new information ready for EUNIS2008. Leader: James Cilia (Malta)
  • Help with European funding – This was a short term project which produced advice for ELTF members on the forthcoming EU bids. The group is currently reviewing its future activities and its membership. Leader: Steffi Engert (Germany)
  • E-Learning Case Studies across Europe. This group has started to draw up templates for case studies and hopes to start to gather information as soon as can be arranged. The group will work on finalising the templates and will plan a strategy for collecting case studies. Leader: Stephen Clarke (UK)
  • Future of e-learning – This group has looked at development strategies in a number of universities and aims to provide an overview of directions. Leader: James Uhomoibhi (Northern Ireland)

There is always and opportunity to join one of these groups since group membership changes from time to time. Also the ELTF welcomes proposals for new topics. ELTF members are encouraged to lead working groups or to join one or more of them.

The EUNIS E-Learning Task Force is led by Gill Ferrel (gill.ferrell(at)northumbria.ac.uk).

The e-Learning Task Force has carried out a survey

of the use of media archives and learning object repositories at European universities and survey of the usage of digital media in teaching practice.

The purpose of the surveys is to compile and share a useful overview of the implementations and uses of digital media at European universities and to help and inspire other EUNIS members. The results will be presented at the EUNIS 2009 congress in Santiago de Compostela and be available in the conference paper.
